Fluoride is an essential mineral that our teeth need to survive. It gives our chompers the strength they need to fight off cavities and survive. There are many resources in the world that give us the minerals we need, but oftentimes we don’t get enough fluoride and our teeth and oral health suffer the consequences.
Each day, minerals are taken from and added to our smiles. However, if you don’t get enough fluoride added to your teeth, you are severely prone to tooth decay and other dental issues. So, to help you strengthen and nourish your pearly whites, we recommend doing the following things:
1. Drink water that contains fluoride. Each community has fluoride added to the city water, which is why tap water is a great source of fluoride.
2. Use fluoride products. There are many products available that help you strengthen your teeth and improve your oral health. Those products include fluoride toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash. No matter which product you choose, make sure you pick the products that have been approved by the American Dental Association.
3. Attend your dental checkups. When you come into our office for a dental cleaning and checkup, your dentist or hygienist will provide a fluoride treatment in the form of a foam, gel, or varnish. This treatment will give your smile the minerals it needs to stay healthy and strong.
For more details on fluoride, please feel free to give our office a call! We are more than happy to explain why this mineral is so beneficial for your smile.
